Leatherman multi-tool features
The Leatherman multitool is probably the best-known of all the larger multi-tool brands. There are several different tool options depending on your personal preferences. As a general rule, all of the large Leatherman multitools include regular and needlenose pliers, a clip-point knife blade, a combination bottle/can opener, a minimum of two different screwdriver blades, and scissors. Depending on the particular model, other options available include a serrated knife blade, copper wire cutters and strippers, electrical crimpers, hard wire cutters useful for steel wire, a combination 8 in/19 cm ruler, a saw, files which work on both wood and metal, bit holders for additional bits, and a lanyard attachment. The Leatherman Surge multitool, along with the Leatherman New Wave multitool and the Leatherman Skeletool multitool fit into the larger multitool category. The Juice models even includes a corkscrew. The top of the line Super Tool 300 model incorporates 19 tools into one unit and includes a third slotted screwdriver along with an awl with a thread loop. In addition, some models, like the Leatherman Skeletool CX multitool, have a tungsten DLC coating and carbon fiber handle scales.
Leatherman also makes three smaller versions of its regular line of multi-tools. The Micra model incorporates ten tools into a keychain-sized case and includes a knife blade, medium and extra-small slotted screwdriver blades, a phillips screwdriver blade, a bottle opener, a ruler, tweezers, a nailfile/cleaner, and a keyring. The Squirt PS4 model features a clip-point knife blade, spring-action scissors, a combination needlenose/regular pair of pliers, wire cutters, a medium slotted and a small phillips screwdriver, a wood/metal file and a keyring attachment. The Squirt ES4 version also includes a wire stripper which can strip copper wire from 20 gauge to 12 gauge in addition to all of the features of the PS4.
